School safety partnership will combine agency forces

Posted: Updated:

Visiting Simon Sanchez High School, the new administration announced a School Safety partnership.

Working with the Guam Department of Education, Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center, and Guam Homeland Security, Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio say they’re committed to keeping schools safe across the island.

The partnership will be headed by Tenorio. He said there’s three components, including fixing facilities, working with law enforcement, and addressing challenges with transportation. Also, students “should not wake up at 4:45 a.m. to take the bus.

“We’re gonna have a totally different attitude when it comes to budget and financing," the governor said. "We’re not gonna give you 50 percent of your budget but the whole thing."
