It's caused an upset across the nation. You may have seen the viral video captured by Guam native Kaya Taitano. It showed what appeared to be a confrontation between participants at the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington, DC and a group of teens.

A Catholic school in Kentucky condemned a group of its students, many of whom wore "Make America Great Again" hats, after they were recorded harassing a Native American Vietnam veteran in a video that went viral over the weekend.

Guam native Kaya Taitano attended the event near the Lincoln Memorial in DC. It's her video recording that caught the attention of many.

Taitano telling WLWT 5 in Ohio, "We ended up being surrounded by this group of kids and really didn't know where it was going, but I knew it needed to be recorded. They were mocking the chant."

The students from private, all-male Covington Catholic High School in northern Kentucky were in Washington for an anti-abortion rally on Friday when they were filmed surrounding Nathan Phillips and mocking the Native American's singing and drumming. Phillips is a well-known Native American activist who was among those leading the Standing Rock protests in 2016-2017 against the construction of an oil pipeline in North Dakota.

One teen in particular seen standing in front of Phillips, staring into his face with a smile. Phillips says fellow students, many in clothing bearing President Donald Trump's "MAGA" slogan, cheered him on and chanted, "Build that wall, build that wall."

"Build that wall. Build that wall. This is indigenous land. We're not supposed to have walls here. We never did for a millennium, before anyone else came here, we never had walls. We never had a prison. We always took care of our elders. We took care of our children. We always provided for them. We taught them right from wrong. I wish I could see the energy of the young mass of young men, put that energy into making this country really, really great, helping those that are hungry."

Phillips wiped tears from his eyes. Taitano said Phillips stepped in when he noticed the students clashing with African American protestors nearby.

She says, "He was trying to break up the conflict...I was amazed at the amount of disrespect shown to this elder."

But, Nick Sandmann, a junior at Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky and the one centered in the video controversy stated, "I never interacted with this protestor. I did not speak to him. I did not make any hand gestures or other aggressive moves. To be honest, I was startled and confused as to why he had approached me. We had already been yelled at by another group of protestors, and when the second group approached I was worried that a situation was getting out of control where adults were attempting to provoke teenagers." Sandmann denounced what he calls outright lies about the incident. For now, the Diocese of Covington is investigating.

Meantime, Taitano says the students "should apologize to all indigenous people and realize they are possibly the future leaders of America."
