Minor in custody after alleged sexual assault at Southern High

Posted: Updated:

A male minor has been taken into custody in connection to an alleged sexual assault at Southern High School last week.

According to Guam Police Department Spokesperson Sergeant Paul Tapao, the assault reportedly occurred during school hours.

School Principal Jim Reyes tells KUAM they've met with students' parents, noting "Learning comes second only to safety."

DOE spokesperson Isa Baza confirms they're working with law enforcement to address the matter. Both agencies have launched investigations.

"The school administration is working with the family to ensure that any needed services and supports are provided to the student involved," Baza said.
