Leon Guerrero gets White House invite

Posted: Updated:

Gov.-elect Lou Leon Guerrero received an invitation from President Donald Trump to participate in a White House event in Washington, DC.

It's being held for 17 newly elected governors from across the nation.

Leon Guerrero says she appreciates the invitation stating, "Guam is strategically important to the defense of the country and for the promotion of democracy, but there are pressing federal-territorial issues I want to convey to him that affect our entire community."

She adds she is ready to work with the Trump administration.

Leon Guerrero will head to Washington DC next week for the Dec. 13 meeting, which includes a roundtable discussion with the president and other meetings with senior members of his administration.
