December emphasizes safe, sober driving

Posted: Updated:

'Tis the season for celebrations. That's why law enforcement officials are reminding residents to drive sober or get pulled over - not just this holiday season but all year long.

A proclamation signing was held today in advance of the annual campaign, which is held from December 13-31st.

Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio said, "There will be zero tolerance, DUI enforcement checkpoints, and more police officers will be put out on the roads to catch drunk drivers before they hurt themselves or someone else. Remember, they will see you before you see them."

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website, drunk driving takes the lives of more than 10,000 people each year.
