Man charged for double-homicide will remain in jail

Posted: Updated:

The man charged in a double-homicide in Harmon will stay in jail until his trial next month. As reported, Joseph Sagdal remains in custody on $500,000 cash bail.

Defense has motioned that he post real property instead - the Ponteras Building in Hagatna owned by DNA Inc.

The government objected to this on grounds Sagdal's attorney, David Lujan, holds shares in DNA Inc.

According to the court's decision and order, that motion has been denied as it would violate the Rules of Professional Conduct due to conflict of interest.

It was almost a year ago when Sagdal - who is a shooting instructor - was in the Harmon area when he alleges he was hit in the face with a slingshot for unknown reasons.

Court documents state he followed his attackers and shot at them multiple times.

Sagdal appeared in court on Friday.

Because he's asserted his right to speedy trial, trial has been set for December 3.
