All clear after gunshots force elementary school lockdown

Posted: Updated:

An elementary school in Agat is placed on a brief lockdown after gunshots were heard near the campus Monday morning. Guam DOE spokesperson Isa Baza says it happened around 10:10 am at Marcial Sablan Elementary School.

Guam police were called after gun shots were heard in an area outside but near the school.

The lockdown was lifted and the all clear given just before 10:30 am. Schools officials confirmed with police that the gunshots apparently was the result of a gun salute happening at a nearby cemetery.
