JOINT INFORMATION CENTER
JIC RECOVERY UPDATE No. 25
Sept. 13, 2018, 8:15 p.m.
Guam Waterworks Authority reported tonight that wells in Yigo are back on-line. This means northern wells are operating normally, with the exception of two wells. They continue monitoring reservoir levels in Yigo and Mount Santa Rosa.
Central water booster pump station issues at Access and Pago Bay station have been resolved.
GWA is monitoring reservoir levels and expects improvements to the service in higher elevations of Yona, Windward Hills and portions of Cross-Island Road.
In Southern Guam, the Ugum Water Treatment Plant is on line. Two areas are without water due to booster pumps with no back-up generators: Pigua Subdivision, Merizo and Upper Santa Ana in Agat. Tankers have been deployed to these areas.
GPA has deployed generators to the Nimitz Hill/Turner Road booster pump station and GWA crews are making adjustments in the area to restore water service. Crews are working to restore service to Tuba & Pinga Streets, Maina – these areas remain without water until island power can be restored. Tankers have been deployed to these areas.
GPA crews have addressed an isolated area in Ipan where a leaning power pole broke a main water main. GWA crews have restored water to the area.
All treatment plants are operating normally. Some of the smaller southern sewage pump stations without generators are being managed with pump trucks until island power can be restored. Repairs and assessments of all of our collection facilities are on-going, and any post-typhoon repairs will be made as soon as manpower and resources become available.
