Condition of Readiness 2 will be declared at 7pm

Posted: Sep 09, 2018 3:01 PM +10:00 Updated:

Governor Eddie Calvo and Joint Region Marianas Commander Rear Adm. Shoshana Chatfield will place Guam and local military bases in Condition of Readiness (COR)2 at 7 o’clock tonight.  COR2 means that island residents can expect to see typhoon-strength winds within 24 hours.

Guam is currently under a Typhoon Warning along with Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. Typhoon conditions, including destructive winds of 74 mph or more, are expected as early as Monday afternoon.  You are still urged to prepare your home.

Shelters will open at 6 o’clock this evening for people who need a safe place to ride out Typhoon Mangkhut.

If you need transportation to a shelter you are advised to contact your village Mayor’s office (see the list here).
