Meet the candidates at GYP senatorial forum series

Posted: Sep 06, 2018 2:28 PM +10:00 Updated:

The first of a two-part senatorial forum series starts Sept. 7 featuring republican senatorial candidates.

Guam Young Professionals, a committee under the Guam Chamber of Commerce, invites its membership and others to attend the 2018 You Decide Senatorial Forum Series, which includes a mixer to meet the candidates.

While the forum is geared toward the island’s young professionals, Guam Chamber’s Pinki Lujan invites all others to participate.

“There’s a lot of new faces this year and this will give you the opportunity to really get to know these senators,” she said. “Because if they pass bills or introduce bills that directly affect the business community, then we really need to prick their brain and plant some seeds with regards to issues that directly affect the business community.”

The program will be moderated with set questions and an chance for the public to ask questions if time permits, GYP Chairman Anthony Mariano said.

“That’s the whole idea behind the mixer,” he said. “If you’re not able to get your question out there, you can do so at the mixer. All of our candidates will be there, so I’m pretty sure you’ll have the opportunity to get more information and answers to your specific questions."

The Sept. 7 forum featuring republican candidates will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the Outrigger Guam Beach Resort’s San Jose Ballroom. Doors open at 3 p.m. The forum for democrat candidates will follow on Sept. 14, also at time and location.

Admission is $25 for GYP members and $35 for non-members. To RSVP, email info@guamchamber.com.gu.
