DOC defense counsel could be held for contempt of court

They're supposed to be defending their client, but come next week they'll be defending themselves. Attorneys Jon Ramos and Rawlen Mantanona could be held for contempt of court.

They represent Department of Corrections' Jeff Limo. The former head of Internal Affairs is charged with a dozen others in a scheme to smuggle contraband into the prison.

At issue: the firm apparently attached grand jury transcripts in a motion filed with the court, contents of which were published in a news article.

It's public knowledge that grand jury transcripts are confidential.

A gag order has since been issued to all parties not to disseminate or release information from this document.

They must appear on July 18 for an order to show cause.

That hearing is scheduled for 8:30am.
