Aguon Proposes Legislature Pass 6-Month Plan

Posted: Jul 10, 2018 5:04 PM Updated:

As the legislature  prepares to debate the government's new budget, senator and gubernatorial candidate Frank Aguon Jr. is proposing a 6-month spending plan to begin the next fiscal year. In a letter to speaker Benjamin Cruz, Aguon blasted the Calvo administration for what he called a "lack of fiscal constraint."  He says a 6-month budget would help limit public spending in the final months of governor calvo's term to critical government services.

But rival democratic candidate Lou Leon Guerrero says she disagrees with the 6-month proposal.  In a news release, the Bank of Guam president says the shortened plan would "inject a huge degree of uncertainty and instability to a process" that is already disrupting key government services such as education, health care, and public safety.
