Former Guam resident alleges rape by assistant scoutmaster in the 70s

He thought he was going to learn how to build a rocket model so he could earn his merit badge, or at least, that's what this victim believed back in the 1970s when he alleges he was raped by Boy Scout assistant scoutmaster David Joseph Ellington.

Only identified by his initials to protect his identity, 59-year-old E.G.W. was a former boy scout and altar boy in Agat and he is the latest to file his lawsuit in the District Court of Guam.

Ellington, according to court documents, was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, but discharged due to "character and behavior disorder."

This, apparently, was a euphemism for homosexuality.

E.G.W. alleges he was raped and sexually molested by the assistant scoutmaster several times at Ellington's home.

The complaint alleges the Boy Scouts here on Guam and off-island conspired to cover up Ellington's molestation acts in order to prevent being sued by victims.

E.G.W. is seeking $5 million in damages.
