UOG makes budget request for more than $32M

Posted: Jun 12, 2018 1:16 PM Updated:

The University of Guam is making a push to get its $32.4 million fiscal year 2019 budget request approved. That's just for general operations. Interim President Dr. Robert Underwood spoke to senators during their budget hearing about the need to change how the university gets money.

Ultimately, he says they do not want to short change education provided to the students, saying, "For the past three years we have been regularly short changed in the allotment schedule even in the midst of announced surpluses. It is more than disappointing. It is disrupting to our planning and operations."

It's Underwood's final budget presentation for UOG. He also suggested senators pass an administrative provision to prohibit a differential allotment schedule of more than ten percent for budgeted amounts unless legislative authority is granted.
