Slight glitch with alert siren at Port Authority

Posted: Jun 12, 2018 11:21 AM Updated:

It's the emergency system in place to notify us of any potential threat heading our way. But, a test of one of the All Hazards Alert Warning System Tuesday morning revealed an issue.

Witnesses reported hearing the siren at the Port Authority go off once before a pre-scripted message stated, "This is...," then the message just stops. The testing was only done at the Port location, as Guam Homeland Security officials are assessing operations of that specific siren.

A technician is said to be addressing the issue, and the siren will be re-tested on Friday.

Officials say this test is separate from the monthly test of the 15 alert warning systems. So far, no issues with the others tested earlier this month.
