117,000 visitors for Guam in April

Posted: May 17, 2018 3:31 PM Updated:

Guam recorded the second-best tourist arrival total ever for the month of April last month. The 117,000 visitors was second only to April 2017's 122,000.

The Korean market continues to boost the numbers. It grew by 12.6-percent compared to the same month last year.  GVB says April is traditionally a "slow" month, so various events are held such as the United Marathon, and Smokin' Wheels to help boost arrivals.

Meanwhile, GVB also reports positive developments in airline load factors , or the percentage of available airline seats that are filled. It was 75-percent for the Japan market in April, a 5-percent year-on-year increase. GVB predicts the load factor for Japan will jump to 81-percent in the next three months.

Korea maintained a strong 88-percent load factor in April, about the same as a year ago.
