Law enforcers who paid the ultimate price honored

17 lives lost from our law enforcement community are honored during a special peace officer memorial and wreath laying ceremony in Hagatna this week.

Chief of police JI Cruz showcasing the devotion and dedication these officers had while on duty.

He also recognized the hard work of those on the force that continue their sworn duty of protecting and serving. He said, "We take the time to honor those that paid the ultimate price and made the ultimate sacrifice on the altar of freedom all in the service and protection of our island community."

He added, "Over the last year the officer's of the GPD have dealt with several situations that have purposely placed themselves in harm's way in order to protect our community. Their actions were above resolve and while the potential to add more names to this memorial was there, they did not falter."

Their legacy always being remembered. The ceremony is part of National Police Week. GPD is also hosting a static display tomorrow at the Dededo Flea Market featuring the work of the officers.
