Sanchez senior's artwork will be on display in nation's capital

Historic and cultural scenes taken from around Guam that have been captured into a single painting will be put up at the US Capitol Complex in Washington DC.

Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo announcing that Simon Sanchez High senior, Exequiel Bandoy is the winner of the 2018 Congressional Art Competition for Guam. He went up against nearly 30 other public and private high school artists.

United Airlines gifting him two round trip tickets to DC, as well as, a $500 stipend from the Guam Preservation Trust to attend the artist reception and award ceremony.

His work, entitled "Longing for Home," will be on display at the Nation's Capitol for one year.

The Congressional Art Competition is a nation-wide annual event sponsored by the Congressional Institute and Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. 650-thousand high school students have participated since it began in 1982.
