San Agustin wants to get to the bottom of missing DOE funds

Posted: Updated:

Allegations of $8,000 in non-appropriated funds going missing at the Guam Department of Education has led senator Joe San Agustin to call for a round table meeting later this month.

Senator Joe San Agustin said, "The past month we were concentrating on getting the funding right for DOE, and then lo and behold I get a text saying there's reason to believe that there could be some funds that may be missing within the student body, non-appropriated funds within DOE. And it happens to right now so far, it's at Agueda Johnston Middle School."

San Agustin said DOE has confirmed it is looking into the matter. He is hoping a round table scheduled for July 20th will reveal the agency's existing processes and possible improvements that can be made to its handling of non-appropriated funds.
