Nelson bill to allocate funding for Mayors

Mayors could be getting more funding to help collect and dispose of cars, white goods and recyclable materials left in their respective villages.

Senator Telena Cruz Nelson introduces Bill 41 to allocate funds to the Mayors Council of Guam for contracting with recycling companies.

Bill 41 would allocate $400,000 to the MCOG to work with recycling companies for the “collection, recycling, disposal and processing of automobiles, buses, heavy equipment, trucks, batteries, tires, white goods and other recyclable material. The Recycling Revolving Fund currently doesn't’t’ provide any money to the MCOG to contract with recycling companies," Nelson explained.

Mayors raised this issue earlier this year - turning over goods to recycling companies and at times their refusal to accept them.
