International attendees at humanitarian assistance/disaster response seminar

Dozens of military and government officials from more than a handful countries gathered at the Westin today for the National Guard's partnership program's humanitarian assistance and disaster response seminar.

The Guam National Guard is hosting this year's event. It allows Guard units from several states to partner and strengthen relations between other countries.

Military personnel from Mongolia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Bangladesh, the Philippines and Tonga participated in the seminar. Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio also attended the opening ceremony.

    As part of the events to commemorate the island 73rd Liberation, a special memorial mass was held on big navy at the Sumay Cemetery. Prior to World War II, Sumay was a thriving fishing community and commercial hub for ships. It was known as the "Pearl of the Island".
