TYPHOON UPDATE:  Utilities prepped for storm

Guam Power Authority

In the last several days, GPA crews and contractors have been out trimming vegetation near power poles and power lines. Often times, power service is interrupted when overgrown vegetation fall on power lines.

GPA has scheduled various teams of personnel to respond to power outages throughout the storm for as long as it is safe. The agency also assisted in prepping generators at various GWA stations to ensure they have working alternate power sources in case of a power outage.

GPA officials also are asking the public for their cooperation and assistance to protect the health and safety of the GPA line crews responding to outages.  In case of a power outage and if you are operating a generator, especially a large generator, please SHUT OFF THE MAIN BREAKER(S) OF ALL THE HOUSE(S) OR BUILDING(S) THAT ARE CONNECTED TO YOUR GENERATOR.  This will prevent a "back feed" of power from your generator unit into the Island Wide Power System.  Your actions will prevent serious injury or death to GPA's line crews who may be working on primary and secondary power lines across Guam.

To report a power outage, call: 472-1472/3/4

Guam Waterworks Authority

Water agency crews have been preparing water pump and sewage stations in preparation for Typhoon Dolphin. They also have crews on schedule to address water outage issues during the storm.

To report a water outage, call: 646-4211
