Guam - Piti mayor Ben Gumataotao believes the government of should not have to purchase water that he feels belongs to the people of Guam. And in light of a recent proposal from the Navy to raise water rates by 40% to the Guam Waterworks Authority, he is drafting a resolution that requests for the return of the Fena Lake.

"We should never buy the Fena Reservoir the Fena Reservoir belongs to the people of Guam what we need to do is get all the leaders in Guam, and everybody to ask the president and the US Congress to get that navy out of there and give it to the people of Guam," he said.

The Fena Reservoir is owned by the Navy and located on Naval Magazine. Gumataotao will work with the Mayors Council of Guam executive director Angel Sablan to draft the resolution. The Piti mayor will also request for assistance from the Governor's Office.
