Guam - The Urgent Care Center at the Guam Memorial Hospital will be opening its doors on Tuesday, January 20th.  According to Health Committee chair Senator Dennis Rodriguez it will benefit both the hospital and its patients.

He told KUAM News, "We looked at what the root of the problems are at the hospital and one of the biggest problem is that people use the emergency room as a clinic as an urgent care center so we know that a lot of those visits are not emergency they are urgent care matters so what we did was develop a plan to address that problem by having an urgent care center there."

Rodriguez says now that GMH will have an urgent care center costs for care will be lower. He says more importantly it is able to provide the community an appropriate level of care. According to Rodriguez the Urgent Care Center will be opening with limited service hours until otherwise determined.
