New information system one of many changes for utilities

Guam - The Guam Power Authority may be moved into its new office in Fidian but the transition continues. As Guam Power and Guam Waterworks Authority employees nestle into their new offices at the Gloria B. Nelson Public Service Building in Mangilao, GPA communications director Art Perez says testing has begun on a new information system.

"We're going through more of that testing and in house to make sure that when the system rolls out that it has all the features that it should have like online payments, updates on your billing accounts , pay by phone all those features that we have now and within the new CIS system," he explained.

The Customer Care & Billing system, as it called, will not only allow for ratepayers to conduct normal transactions   but GPA will re-launch their prepaid service. "As you know we had to postpone that customer value added service back in November because of the move to our new office but now that we are here at Fidean resurrect that probably look at some time in March or April time frame and we intend to hold meetings with Guam Association of Realtors and GHURA and how prepaid can best serve their clients and customers if you are applying new service, or if you are a new tenants in that particular case the process of registering transferred account is pretty lengthy with the protection of the ratepayer, with CC&B and with prepaid that can be a very seamless process and we want to raise that and offer it as a service to those target markets and target customers," he said.

For now the CC&B is being tested within GPA, but according to Perez plans are in the works to one day incorporate GWA. "To make their interaction with GPA and hopefully waterworks down the line a lot simpler transparent smooth so that type of service can better serve one utility customer in this case both water and power," he said.

GPA is hoping to fully implement the CC&B system by April. In the meantime the new Gloria B. Nelson Public Service Building in Fidian is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to serve all customers.
