All kids OK after school bus crashes in Merizo

Guam - The Guam Police Department responded to a report of a bus crash in the southern village of Merizo just around 7:30 this morning. According to Department of Education Deputy Superintendent Rob Malay the 26 students that were on board were assessed by medics and cleared. They were subsequently boarded on to another bus and will be assessed again by a school nurse once they arrive to Merizo Middle School where they attend classes. Malay adds parents are being notified about what occurred. Additionally students will be assessed again before departing school this afternoon. KUAM is awaiting information from the Guam Police Department for further details about the incident. According to Department of Public Works Director Glenn Leon Guerrero the bus driver backed into a tree and hit some branches which caused minor damage to the bus. As part of standard protocol however an investigation will be conducted into the incident and the bus driver will be drug tested.
