Guam - Leading up to The Great Debate, students from political analyst and University of Guam professor Ron McNinch's class sponsored a "Meet the Elites" event today at the School of Business and Public Administration.

Teaching assistant Regina Shiroma says the event allows students to meet and listen to the candidates and their platforms, saying, "This is the definitely a new pool of voters, just because we're turning 18 or it will be our first election, this will actually be my first general election to vote in but it's a great way for the younger generation to get involved with what's going on in the island and we get a say who our islands are and just keeping them in check."

Close to a dozen candidates from both political parties were in attendance.
