Guam - The emergency declaration for repairs needed to be made at Benevente Middle School was been signed by Governor Eddie Calvo this morning.

DOE superintendent Jon Fernandez said, "That means we can hopefully by the end of this week have a contractor on site to clean and connect Benevente Middle School back to their power source so we can get them powered up by the start of the school year."

An electrical fire caused the school to lose power. It is estimated that the repairs will cost $50,000 to $70,000. If repairs are not completed by the start of the school year Fernandez says double-session is an option.
