Dededo school seeks emergency declaration after fire

Guam - The Department of Education is waiting for word from Adelup on whether it will approve its request for an emergency declaration for Benavente Middle School.  On Friday, we told you about an electrical fire that occurred that rendered the school powerless. The school might not open on time. If the emergency declaration is granted DOE will seek three quotes and proceed making fixes as soon as possible speeding up the procurement process. He adds that internal funding will be used to address the issue and that they are in active communication with the Governor's Office. If repairs can not be made double session is an option.

    Important news for our island veterans: the Guam VA will be holding several flu vaccination outreaches at various areas of the island in the coming weeks. To be eligible, veterans must be registered with the Guam Community-Based Outreach Clinic and possess a valid ID card or other form of identification.
