Road repair in Yigo delayed until September

Guam - While the Department of Public Works had hoped to start repairs on Route 1 in Yigo along Wusstig Road back in May, director Carl Dominguez says that timeframe has been extended to September.

He tells KUAM News the half a million dollars in federal funding requires time-consuming paperwork that was not expected. "For me, it's number one safety, it's to improve safety - and I've actually witnessed drivers drive on the shoulder of the road to try and avoid those bad spots up there, so without a doubt it's a safety factor," he detailed.

He says the project will entail laying a new hot mixed asphalt on the damaged road. The project is expected to take a few weeks to complete and will extend to roads in Asan and Piti where the asphalt has also peeled off.
