Guam - The governor has now  declared the island in Condition Of Readiness 1. This means that damaging winds are expected to occur within 12 hours. It also means no outdoor activities are allowed unless it's an extreme emergency-but otherwise stay indoors.

The latest information from the National Weather Service is that the worst conditions are expected tomorrow morning. Damaging winds of 39 miles per hour are expected to roll in at around 1 o'clock Saturday morning, with destructive winds of about 58 miles per hour expected at around 5 o'clock in the morning. Winds at the center are around 40 with gusts up to 50 miles per hour. The NWS expects around 4-6" of rain during the passage of the tropical storm. The storm will also bring strong rip currents, and flooding in low-lying coastal areas.

You are urged to please stay out of the water.

As for island residents who need a safe place to ride out the storm we need to pass along that Machanaonao Elementary School can no longer accept families it has reached its capacity. Residents are urged to please go to either Maria Ulloa Elementary or Astumbo Elementary in Dededo. Call your village mayor to make transportation arrangements.
