Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo has declared the island in Condition of Readiness 3. This means that damaging winds are possible within 48 hours. According to a media release from Guam Homeland Security/ Office of Civil defense the island is likely to experience a tropical storm. The National Weather Service early this morning issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Guam, Saipan, Rota and Tinian. The closest point of approach is expected at around 12noon Saturday. Winds at that time could peak to around 50-60mph.

Island residents may experience damaging winds that could make debris fly and topple over small trees, flooding is also likely. You are encouraged to start making preparations now such as:

1.    Gas your car and get fuel for your generators
2.    Clean your yard and the outside of your house of anything that could fly in high winds
3.    Stock up on non-perishable foods (like can goods) and drinking water
4.    Get batteries for flashlights and battery-operated radios. It is important that you have a battery-operated radio
5.    Get your shutters ready.
