BBQ Block Party will be held as planned

Guam - Despite today’s inclement weather, Saturday’s 2nd Annual Pleasure Island Guam BBQ Block Party is still a go. Eight local and international teams will be competing in the annual event which takes place tomorrow from 5:30pm-10:00pm.

Pacific Grillers, Team Tunu, Chef Taga and Team Outrigger, Team Asu Smokehouse, Chef Mark Curry and Team Pacific Islands Club, Chef Georgii and Team Russia, Chef Lee and Team Korea, as well as the reigning overall Champion Grill Master, Chef Peter Duenas and Team Meskla will compete in three different BBQ categories – Beef, Chicken and Pork.

Not only will there be awesome BBQ, but island residents and visitors will be able to enjoy the free cultural performances and life music. Various food vendors and local goods from artisans will also be featured.   

To ensure the safety of event-goers, San Vitores Road from the crosswalk between UnderWater World and DFS Galleria to the traffic light in front of the entrance to SandCastle will be closed on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. to Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 3:00 a.m.

    'Tis the season to give for hope. On Sunday, non-profit organization Alee Shelter collected coins for hope at the 14th annual John Robert Powers Bazaar Festival at the Agana Shopping Center. The all-day event encouraged island residents to trade coins for raffle tickets and featured entertainment, a fashion parade, games, and arts and crafts.     Volunteers cleanup Guam

    Dozens of government workers and community volunteers scoured the island picking up trash. It happened at various locations this past Saturday. The cleanup was part of the 4th quarter Island wide beautification day. Officials with the Islandwide Beautification Task Force are now compiling information to find out how many people volunteered, and how much trash was collected.More >>

    DODEA's Bus Drivers' Collective Bargaining Agreement has finished negotiations. Improving conditions such as overtime work and transfers. The agreement also states bus drivers will see a 14% increase in wages over three years. The GFT will meet with bus drivers to finalize and ratify the agreement on Friday and Saturday at the GFT office.More >>
