Guam - Guahan Project in collaboration with Guam's Alternative Lifestyle Association, and the Department of Public Health and Social Services held a National HIV Testing Day, an annual campaign encouraging people to get tested. While the numbers have decreased from 1 in 5 to 1 in 3 over the years, many people still don't know they have HIV. Guahan Project coordinator Kelly Jensen said, "Its really important to know your HIV status if you are positive the sooner you know you have a positive test for HIV the sooner you can get medical treatment, medications that will prolong and help you live a healthy life and it also contributes to decreasing the chance of spreading to other people."

Testing takes about twenty minutes and is completely free and confidential. For more information about today's event or about getting tested yourself, please call 472-0218.
