Guam - The Guam National Physique Federation held a press conference yesterday afternoon at Paradise Fitness in Hagatna to officially recognize and announce the athletes who comprise the 2014 Guam National Fitness Team. Acting Governor, Ray Tenorio presented the athletes with their official team uniforms and shared some words of confidence and motivation as the athletes head off island to compete.
Tenorio said, "We're re all about making people live long healthier more quality way of life. When they get to my age about 25-30 years from now they are going to be in better shape because they are in good shape now and that is what we need to try and continue to convey to the rest of our community. So behalf of Governor Calvo and First Lady Christine myself and my wife we want to thank you for your support but most importantly thank you for bringing pride to our island and representing us from a far and God Bless you and good luck."
The five athletes that comprise Team Guam will compete in Women's Figure, Women's Physique, Women's Bikini Fitness and Men's Bodybuilding at the Ikaika Championship on Saturday, June 28 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Ikaika Championship is a national qualifying contest. If the athletes place in the top 3 of their respective divisions, they will earn elite status and the right to compete in the 5 amateur national level contests where a victory allows one to turn professional. The athletes representing Guam are Keisha Onedera, Joice Tevid, Maryann Morrison, Ayesha Barcinas and Kevin Leon Guerrero.
