Guam - The Guam Election Commission is under pressure to ensure tabulation machines arrive on time for the primary election.   As we reported GEC needs close to $200,000 to make the purchase. Bill 334 - which provides that funding was heard at the legislature last week. However according to GEC executive director Maria Pangelinan she's hoping senators or the administration can move quickly.

"I heard the next session is going to be around mid-July so at this time I will go back to start talking again apprise everybody of the situation the commission, the vendor, see what DOA and governor can do in giving us, hoping to get us some money before hand so we can get it here on time," she said.

If the bill is passed in mid-July, it would take two weeks for the tabulation machines to get to Guam. According to Pangelinan that's cutting it close considering the primary is scheduled for August 30th. She says the drop dead deadline GEC would need to purchase the machines is no later than July 15th but she's hoping it can be sooner.
