Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo has proclaimed May as Relay for Life Month. The annual event draws thousands of island residents who show their passion to finish the fight against cancer.

Relay for Life 2014 event chair Joe Rios says this year celebrates over a century of advocacy against cancer and the support to save lives. He told KUAM News, "Cancer affects us all in one or another - during the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, we honor cancer survivors, remember those that we've lost 0257 and unite as a community to fight back against cancer."

This year's Relay for Life of Guam will be held at the George Washington High School Track and Field on Friday, May 23 at 7pm. For more information about how to form a team or become involved in Relay for Life call 477-9451.
