Guam - The 7th Annual Judicata 5K is scheduled for this Saturday at the Guam Premier Outlets. Show time for the run is at 5:00 am with go time scheduled for 6:00 am. This annual 5K event is one of many events planned for Law Week 2014 and will be unlike any other 5k that they have done in the past. It will feature 7 different color-powders being thrown at participants as they run/walk along the race route, which begins and ends at the Guam Premier Outlets.
Dean Manglona, Law Week 2014 Committee Member, said, "We are going to have color throwers at each of the 7 stations throwing a specific color. The colors are made out of holy die and its basically biodegradable non toxic corn starch and they are going to be thrown at the runners along the race course. This year's theme is under the colors of law and the purpose of the 5k is to benefit 4 local non-profits. The first being (IFIK) I Familian I Kotte and it's the Judiciary of Guam's Employees Association. The second non-profit would be Alee Shelter, the third Kusinan Kamalen Karidat and Sanctuary, Inc. So the race proceeds will go to benefit these non-profits."
T-shirts will be given out to the first 800 finishers, there will also be a photo booth, a raffle drawing (grand prize: 1 roundtrip Delta Airlines ticket from GU to Narita, Japan or Manila PI as well as refreshments and snacks. Delta Airlines is also offering discounts on Delta flights for runners for each race bib (subject to terms and conditions).
Manglona added, "As part of law week we will be having a law week basketball outreach friendship game between the Judiciary of Guam's basketball team called Team Justice. The team is comprised of various court employees ranging from Marshalls, Probation Officers, Law Clerks and other staff and I am on the team and we will be playing against the Harvest Christian Academy Varsity Basketball Team which may include some staff personnel. The purpose of this game is to reach out to Guam's youth and teach them a few lessons on the court by the court about the court and so it would be a great opportunity for us to get together with the younger generation and share with them about what the court system is all about and to get them exposed to the Judicial System."
