Guam - According to Guam Customs and Quarantine PIO Johnric Mendiola last night they started to apply pesticides to the infested areas of a ship that was found to have black widow spiders aboard. The Green Ridge pulled into port from California. As of five o'clock this morning a second inspection revealed more spiders in another area of the vessel.

Applications of pesticides to this area have also been conducted. Mendiola indicates that soil was also found on the ship but has been quarantined on the vessel and will be disposed of at the ship's next destination. He adds that the Invasive Species Task Fo rce is on site monitoring the situation.
