Guam - While Customs and Quarantine continues to assess the situation at the Port, public information officer Johnric Mendiola thanks the Port stevedores for their cooperation.

"We are pleased the cooperative agreement that Customs and the Port Authority has as far as identifying when cargo is being off-loaded was put into place. Port personnel, the Stevedore Department identified spiders that were on inbound shipments, the procedures were put into force," he said.

He adds initially customs had cleared the vessel of any invasive species, but once Port personnel started to offload the cargo, the spiders were fully discovered. All cargo was put back on the vessel with the green ridge put out to anchor.
