Pangelinan congressional committee for more time

Guam - Senator Ben Pangelinan is asking a congressional committee more time to review HR-4402 introduced by Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo in early April. The measure is up for a public hearing on Wednesday Guam time. Senator Pangelinan said he was only recently made aware of the measure.

Of concern  is the proposal would authorize the secretary of the Navy to establish a surface danger zone over the Guam National Wildlife Refuge or any portion thereof to support the operation of a live- fire training range complex.  Senator Pangelinan in a letter to Congressman John Fleming is asking more time for the people of Guam to provide comment due to the measure's potential adverse impact and the protection of land for original landowners on which the refuge sits. The senator is hoping to be able to extend the public comment deadline to May 13.
