NWS Issues Typhoon Watch for Alamagan and Pagan

Guam - Tropical Depression 06W has now been upgraded to Tropical Storm Tapah. According to the latest update from the National Weather Service a Typhoon Watch is now in effect for Alamagan and Pagan. This means that typhoon force winds of 74 miles per hour or greater are possible within 48 h ours. In the meantime a Tropical Storm Watch is still in effect for Saipan and Tinian. This means that winds of up to 39 miles per hour or greater are possible within 48 hours. No watches or warnings are in effect for Guam. Tropical Storm Tapah is moving northeast at seven miles per hour. It is expected to turn in a more northerly direction later today, then gradually turn to the north-northwest overnight and Tuesday.
