Guam - The National Weather Service is closely monitoring a tropical disturbance that is slowly consolidating southeast of Guam. The disturbance is now the subject of a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. According to a special weather statement issued by the NWS the tropical disturbance is expected to move slowly northward Sunday night and then turn northwestward to pass near or just a little west of the Marianas. The exact distance that it passes toward the west will have a substantial impact on the rainfall accumulation. The NWS adds that rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches and winds of 15-25 miles per hour with gusts of 35mph are possible mainly on Monday and Tuesday as the circulation passes to the west of the islands.
