GPA holding renewable energy summit

Guam - The Guam Power Authority will be hosting a summit focused on the transformation of the way Guam will produce power in the future. Consolidated Commission on Utilities chairperson Simon Sanchez said, "And we are going to focus very specifically on liquid natural gas as well as renewable and how they will play a role we are bringing experts from off island as well as on island to talk about LNG in particular what its trade offs are how would you bring it here what are the risks."

Sanchez says there will be discussion on renewable energy growth by both GPA and island residents and how it all fits together so that there is still a reliable system at the lowest cost. He adds that the Legislature, the Public Utilities Commission, the Guam Renewable Energy Association and the federal government have been invited to attend and to voice their concerns.

The summit is schedule for Monday from 8am to 5pm at The Hyatt.
