Guam - The Southern High Dolphins are now 5-time defending champions in girl's high school softball. The Lady Dolphins defeated the George Washington Gecko's 4-3 at the Leo Palace Field to finish the 2013-2014 season perfect at 12-0. G.W struck first to take the 1-0 lead early in the ball game off a Tiana Perez r.b.i triple deep to left field that rolled all the way to the wall. Southern High would hold the Gecko's to the lone run and get out of the inning. The Dolphins broke out their sticks in the 2nd inning scoring all 4 runs off throwing errors to first base by the Gecko's. After putting runners on base heads up play by the base runners allowed the defending champions to advance and come around to score. G-Dub trailed 4-1 late in the game and managed to bring a pair of runners across the plate to make it a 4-3 game. But in the end it was a little too late as the Southern High Dolphins were awarded this year's championship title with the 4-3 win.
