Guam - Before firefighters and fire service personnel from both the local and federal government, Governor Eddie Calvo along with Fire Chief Joey San Nicolas proclaimed Fire Services Recognition Week.

Calvo said, "When you talk about a public servant when you talk about someone who is there to protect and save the lives of our people what more than when you look at our professionals here both from the local and federal partners when it comes to our fire agencies here in Guam." San Nicolas added, "During Fire Service Recognition Week we celebrate the success of the men and women who sacrifice their safety for the people of Guam and recognize them for committing to a life of bravery in the face of danger and service before himself."

Several events are planned for the week including this weekend.  The public is invited to the annual Muster Competition, a friendly competition between the various fire units in Guam. The event is scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at the Guam Greyhound parking lot in Tamuning.

The competition start at 10am on both days.
