Guam - More work is underway to address Guam's out of control stray animal population.

At a Mayors Council of Guam meeting today, Yigo mayor Rudy Matanane reports the stray animal roundup committee is making progress with drafting new legislation to address the longtime problem.

"We're refining the laws that exist for the stray dogs and we're trying to introduce one that I don't think is in existence and it would help control the population of stray dogs," he said.

Matanane invites the public to participate in Saru's weekly meetings held on Friday mornings at 10 at the Barrigada Mayors Office.

Meanwhile, Guam Animals In Need has partnered with the humane society to conduct surveys throughout the island to gather information relative to residents' thoughts on sterilization and other pet owner habits.
