February proclaimed Mentorship Month

by Krystal Paco

Guam - Before members of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam organization, Governor Eddie Calvo proclaimed February as Mentorship Month. For over a decade, the organization has paired "bigs" with "littles" creating lasting bonds that have led the youth in making conscious positive decisions.

Executive director Vanessa Estella said, "We're really grateful for everyone who comes together to make the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program possible. We've been around for over ten years and that is only because of the donor support we receive and the volunteer support that we receive."

Today the organization recognized the 2014 Big Brother of the Year Rafael Hughes Batalla and the 2014 Honorary Big Sister of the year Dr. Agnes Indalecio. During this month, Governor Calvo encourages "big" Guamanians to join the noble cause to enrich the lives of "little" Guamanians, by taking an active role in their development, showing support and making a difference in their lives.
