Bordallo talks about farm bill's impact on Guam cockfighting

by Ken Quintanilla

Guam - Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo has responded to a letter from Senator Rory Respicio seeking guidance on whether the farm bill before the president would ban cockfighting in Guam.  Senator Respicio wrote Bordallo yesterday regarding a provision in the bill that would make it a federal crime to attend or bring a child under the age of 16 to an animal fighting event including cockfighting.  The congresswoman responded says it will not affect Guam because it does not alter provisions in place that provides that federal law shall not supersede or invalidate state, local or municipal laws related to animal fighting ventures.
