Guam - The Public Utilities Commission approved the Port Authority's legal contract. The agency is required to obtain PUC approval for any contract it enters into that is more than $1 million. The Commission approved the continuation of the legal services provided by Phillips & Bordallo.
Since the firm began as legal counsel for the Port back in 2011, they have billed $1.1 million to date. The Commission approved the contract, which projects that legal fees, which have averaged about $420,000 a year, will be about $720,000 by next year.
The contract expires in April 2015.
